4th International Gottlob Frege Conference
Gottlob Frege (* November 8, 1848; † July 26, 1925) is one of the most influential thinkers of the 19th and 20th centuries. With his work on logic, he created the theoretical foundations for the development of modern digital technology. The 4th International Gottlob Frege Conference will take place from September 15 to 20, 2025 in Wismar, the city of his birth, to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of this important logician, mathematician and philosopher. The five-day program of this scientific conference will be accompanied by cultural events about Frege and his homeland.
The central theme is the examination of Frege's work and its effects up to the present day:
- Frege's concept of logic compared to other approaches
- Frege's concept of mathematics and its further developments
- Frege's impact on modern computer science and technology
- Frege's linguistic analyses and analytical philosophy
- Frege's polemics and the culture of scientific debates
Conference languages are English and German.
The event is organized by the Gottlob-Frege-Zentrum Wismar.

From July 27 to September 28, 2025, the SCHABBELL City History Museum will host the special exhibition “Gottlob Frege and the Power of Logic. A man from Wismar shapes the modern world”. From July 25 to November 6, 2025, the exhibition “In Gottlob Frege's Footsteps” can be seen in the Alte Post in Bad Kleinen. Appointments for guided tours can be made by telephone (+49 163 7331614) or directly at the tourist information office in Bad Kleinen.

Celebratory colloquium 25 years Gottlob-Frege-Zentrum
The Gottlob-Frege-Zentrum at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences is celebrating its 25th anniversary on November 13, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00 at the phanTECHNIKUM Wismar. A lecture by Frege Prize winner Prof. Hannes Leitgeb (Munich) and a reading from the Frege novel biography by Drs. Edith and Joachim Framm and Prof. Dieter Schott (Wismar) are planned as part of this celebratory colloquium.
